God has rejected King Saul because of his disobedience, and Samuel is called to appoint the successor. God leads him to the sons of Jesse, of which He chooses the youngest. God saw something within David--his heart. In keeping with our musical analogy in this series, we're going to talk about another fundamental part of music--expression. Music is more than a science. It reaches into our emotions. It must be played with proper feeling. God wants his people to have the right expression, and not just go through the motions of a song. Action is important. But God sees our heart. What are your motivations?
Throughout this series, we have learned that God is inviting us to join Him on an epic adventure. In June, our focus was perspective: how we see our circumstances, others, ourselves, and our past. This month, we're going to look at how God's epic adventure invites active participation. We are called to move in step with God. Think of it this way: A conductor sets rhythm. The orchestra follows the conductor's lead, each playing their selected part. And the result is something beautiful. THAT is what God is calling us to be part of.
