Appalachia Reach Out | Summersville, WV

The mission of Appalachia Reach Out (ARO) is “to be Christ’s love in action through being His hands, His feet, His heart, and His mission each day, every day, in all we do.” And through their acts of kindness, goodwill, love, and support, people have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

July 6-12, Marysville Church of the Nazarene is taking a Work & Witness team to ARO to help carry out the love of Christ through the Great Commission in the community of Summersville, WV, and we’d love for you to be a part of it!

Prospective team members will find a registration link, fee schedule, and a packing list below. The initial registration & deposit deadline is April 7, 2024.

What to Pack

  • Sleeping bag/bedding & pillow
  • wash cloth, bath towel, & personal hygiene products
  • work clothes
    • jeans or long shorts recommended
    • clothes you can paint in
    • no belly shirts or skinny-strap tank tops
  • work gloves
  • casual clothes (for evening activities)
  • a church outfit (jeans and a nice top or suits/dresses)
  • closed-toe work shoes
  • light layers (It can get cool in the evening!)
  • rain jacket (Rain is common in the mornings due to high humidity!)
  • Bible, notepad, and pen/pencil
  • cash/spending money
  • medication (if/as needed)
    • minors must have parent permission/instructions for team leader(s) to oversee administration

Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments.

For skilled team members doing home repair or construction projects, please bring power tools and hand tools.

For individuals with food allergies (particularly gluten), bring snacks for the trip to supplement at mealtimes if/as needed.
